An affair in the clouds

Here I am, on my way back to work. Back to the place that I have loved so dearly and for so long. Even when I was barely a teen, reading about O Henry's Noo York brought up images of Bombay in my mind. Well the name of the city might have changed now but the feeling of that fabled megalopolis of the chaos that is India continues to thrive. But it is not only to work that I return now but also my girlfriend of many years. Exactly how many is a difficult question to answer. We have had our share of many and mini break-ups and during one of those I fell in love with another girl who lives in another delectable city, Delhi. A frustrated girlfriend who can miraculously love and hate me at the same time and do both in the extreme, a see-saw job that occupies the major portion of my conscious life, a rented room which seldom offers me homely comfort, a city that is beyond understanding and a life that is under construction. All that and more awaits me as the plane prepares for its final d...

snowflakes

humdrum monotony, cliched existence recurring emotions cycle on trite same old, long gone back again, hackneyed circular dance New people, same events new wounds, same dents new ways to hurt again new ways to feel pain black dark river of mud bogged down by mistakes life full of sweat, blood and hailstorm, no snowflakes!

Omnipresent and Elusive

A nagging feeling of emptiness of lacking of dread of fright gnaws at my insides I want to move but it ties me I was way better is this stagnation? Can I yet rise and soar  like a phoenix, from the ashes of my failures, a past burnt with desires.

Who Indeed?

Do I exist in the electrons of my atoms? their probabilistic waveform; replete with duality defining my troughs and crests, highs and lows Is uncertainty my only reality, a Heisenberg's prose! Do I exist in the double strands of my DNA? with bases paired up along helical structures replicating and repairing ideas as I go along Was I made solely to continue the humanity's song! Do I exist in the intangible realities? of conscience and emotions; wit and melancholy impossible to decipher, a bundle of complexities Am I here only to think and feel and other niceties! Am I a sum of the parts or a whole that exceeds? Am I a product of the past or that what surrounds me? What drives me: a spiritual need or desires carnal? Who are we: souls, ideas, machines or mere animals?

The Story Outside My Window

Image
A story of intertwined twigs and bent branches leaves of myriad hues, dried yellow, fresh green hanging on in the wind, the sun and the rains with birds, nest and sunlight seeping through A story of complexities and imperfections of differences, variations and diversity of grit and guts in the face of tumult of home, comfort and of life itself, peeking through.

The Noblest of All Creatures

For the longest amount of time, I had assumed that disasters bring us together. I had sometimes cooked up a situation in my head where Earth was to be struck by a meteorite and the forecast for humanity around the world was grim or something like an impending alien invasion to destroy the humankind. I had always assumed how these situations would have brought the whole of humanity in an unprecedented togetherness cutting across all imagined and real differences between each of us. Alas, as with most of my assumptions about life and humanity at large, time falsified this one too. This year will be a watershed year in the history of our future. The pandemic (and indeed other ills too, that this year wrought) shall go down in the annuls of history as an era where most of the world simply stopped and waited with abated breath for an end, for a finality, for some sort of alleviation or a ray of hope. For now though, we don’t know when or how this will end but there are things that we n...
