The Foliage of Love
Does a tree fall in love? with trusty roots below, cozy canopy above; or with a strong-willed upright stem with delicate branches, leaves hanging on them! Does a tree then cry or reminisce? for the leaves it watched grow with such fondness; when, in Autumn, they shrivel and wilt, so ill-fed and finally fall into the breeze, golden; but dead! Does love, a child's corpse, make a manure, for parent's sake? vitalizing the tree, the fallen leaf longing inside, hopeful in grief! Is it love then, that reincarnates? in a dazzle of bright tints and turning fates happy little leaves back on the boughs in spring An ode to love, in the winds, do dancing trees then sing?
